Shela near Lamu where the house is located is really a special place that preserved all the old Swahili traditions, there are no cars but only donkeys on the streets, and I can say it is a paradise for a painter and most foreigners that I saw there (there are only very few) are indeed painters. It is also close to the beach, and there are dhows who can take to other islands. The house is a real mansion but constructed in a local style, with a great deal of comfort.”
