“We ended up staying in a different property owned by Michael and Virginia than the one pictured because of unexpected changes in their travel plans during this period of undependable airlines. It could not have worked out better. Michael and Virginia are very gracious hosts and the loft was strategically located in the old city near the train station, the river and all the sights we came to see. Over the course of 10 days we likely walked 20 miles and climbed as many stairs as we got familiar with the downtown. Because it is only a short walk from the train station, we also fit in day trips to Rome (about 90 minutes) and Venice a bit over two hours. The trains in Italy are to-die-for compared to what we are used to in North America. Fast, clean, comfortable and FREQUENT. If we lived there, I would never own a car. We visited in January, right after Christmas and while it was cool (mid 40's to mid 50's, the upside was very short lines for everything. We look forward to hosting Virginia and Michael in Costa Rica for their rescheduled visit next January.”
