Modern, light-flooded and large family home

“We spent an idyllic week at Sandra and Daniel's beautiful architect-designed Modernist house in Winterthur enjoying excursions by foot, bike and train to the sights of Zurich as well as many lovely outings in the hills and along the Rhine, to lake and river swimming and woodland walks. We decided on the swap based on the house, built in 2006 by the Winterthur-based architect Cerfeda as part of a development of passive-heated eco-dwellings. The open-plan top floor living space opens onto a beautiful private roof garden with distant views. Relaxing in this lovely setting was a high-point of our trip. We enjoyed Winterthur as a jumping-off point for exploring the Zurich area and surrounding countryside, as the train station is a 10-minute walk from the house; the famous Swiss rail network provides quick and convenient access to any destination. Top tips for Zurich: Kunsthaus (Art Museum) offers free admission on Wednesdays! and don't miss the stunning Sigmar Polke stained-glass windows in the cathedral. Our favourite outings included cycling to natural swimming lakes in Huetwil and Bichelsee, as well an unusual swimming pool in Schaffhausen on the Rhine river. Jump in at the top of the pool, and the strong Rhine current carries you down to the other end. We got to know each other by email and Skype, and felt very happy to welcome Sandra, Daniel, Felix and Elfie to our home in London. Our only regret is not having met in person! “"We have spent one week of winter holidays at Sandra\'s and Daniel\'s house in Winterthur. The house is as charming and bright as the pictures on the website show - we have especially enjoyed the enormous space that includes the areas for kitchen, dinning and living room. The picture windows allow one to continously enjoy the amazing views: the house\'s garden in the foreground, with the village and the mountains in the background. It all conveys a sense of calm and relaxation. Furthermore, our son (7 years) has been nearly abducted by the hundreds of Lego pieces available - another reason for calm and relaxation for the parents :-) The center of Winterthur is reached after a short and pleasant 10\' walk. The town is charming, quite and with many interesting things to be seen and done. The Kunstmuseum is a must: you rarely have the opportunity to delight Van Gogh\'s, Monet\'s, Klee\'s... paintings with nearly no one around. And the Technorama (Swiss Science museum) is heaven for kids: they are invited to touch, hear, dance, sense, view and experience the science in its many forms. From Winterthur\'s rail station, and thanks to the convenient public transportation network, many other interesting spots can be reached (Sandra and Daniel propose a lot of trips to be done). The relationship with the Clauss Escher family has been very smooth and direct from the beginning. They are friendly and easy-going persons, and we inmediatly felt comfortable while coming to agreement with the details of the exchange. They have taken perfect care of our house, and when we came back, we found it as ordered and spotless as their home was. We can definetely recommend anyone to exchange with Sandra, Daniel and their kids. And we\'d love to meet them again, and share a cup of wine! THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THIS EXCHANGE. "”

“We spent a wonderful and relaxing week in the beautiful house of Sandra and Daniel. The house was just amazing with a huge living space plenty of light and really nice decoration and all the comfort you will need. The garden is really lovely with a nice view and no noise. The house is only 10mn walking from the historic center of Winterthur, which is a really nice town and really well connected with Zurich. Sandra and Daniel were so welcoming and the communication before, between (and after !) was great. We highly recommend an exchange with their family, you won't be disappointed!”

“We had a lovely holiday 2020 in this contemporary house. The house location is perfect . We can go to the city center by walking in 10 mn and the neighboroud is quiet and very nice. The house is really amazing ! It has got a large living room and an original garden on two levels ; Perfect place to relax. The house is also well located to explore the North of Switzerland. If you like swimming , you can go to the Constance Lake but if you prefer hiking in the mountain , Appenzell is the place to be . For shopping , visit Zurich , the largest city in Switzerland . During our holidays , we have visited Zurich, Appenzell, Constance (D) , Vaduz in Lichtenstein , Lucerne , St Gallen and the famous Rhine Falls at Schaffhausen with the most powerful European waterfalls, The communication with Sandra was perfect and when we come back in France , we found our house in perfect condition. We really enjoyed! we highly recommend exchanging with Sandra,Daniel, Felix and Elfie . They are a lovely family , and so is their home... warm, comfortable, and welcoming! “We have just returned from a fantastic exchange experience in Switzerland at Daniel\'s and Sandra\'s contemporary and spacious home. Our temporary home was delightful, very spacious, bright and absolutly spotlessly clean. There is a beautiful view of Wintethur from the huge livingroom and the garden. Winterthur\'s old town which can reached within 10 minutes walking, is beautiful. Winterthur is a great home base for day trips. We had a different adventure every day to Zurich (4 times), Bern, Lucern, St.Gallen and Costanza Lake. We had an excellent communication with Sandra and Daniel before and during our swap, they were very helpful with everything. They also have taken great care of our house. We highly recommend a swap with their family. It was a great experience for us. Thank you again Sandra, Daniel, Elfie and Felix for letting us into your house :)”
