Quiet stay in a modern home near forest, lake and downtown Lucerne

“We stayed in Christoph, Judith, Levin and Tilo's house for a few days in the summer of 2016, before taking off for further travels in Switzerland. We had a great time. Luzern is a beautiful town to explore for a few days and nice trips in the surrounding area are possible as well. The family's house is situated quite well on a hill-top just outside of the city centre. It is very green with several playgrounds, a small supermarket and easy access to the city center by bus and bike. The house itself is very large and comfortable, with a beautiful balcony that we had most of our dinners on. The kids rooms are quite large as well and there were lots of toys to play with for the kids. Christoph and Judith were very nice and responsive, left us a lot of information and good and useful maps of the area and a whole collection of Swiss foods and drinks. We can definitely recommend an exchange!”

“This was one of our very best exchanges in more than 12 years of membership in Homeforexchange.com. Christoph, Judith, Levin and Tilo came to our Costa Rica beach condominium during an extended time away from Mom and Dad's work in the Swiss public education system. One of the things that makes us smile when we think about this exchange is how this family relished and took fullest advantage of the opportunities Costa Rica presented them. We love it when others love our community and find their way easily to enjoy what we love about it. Because ours was a non-simultaneous exchange we had the opportunity to meet and get to know this sweet family. It was more than four years before we were able to use our half of the exchange. Christoph and Judith were patient with us as we planned and then had put off more than one trip to Lucerne. When we finally were able to get to their home, we were lavished with attention. For weeks in advance of our travel Christoph sent regular emails with links to help us plan some of the many things we might do during the relatively short time we were to be in Switzerland. Once there we had the ready advice of neighbors Christoph and Judith had recruited to make us welcome. They became our friends in no time flat! The picture they have posted lets you see that we were in an apartment building. It's a nice building, but the picture doesn't do justice either to the apartment's interior or to the serenity that we enjoyed while we were there. The apartment is very large; there are three bedrooms (two of them have single beds, the other a queen), a large living room, a full dining room, a good sized office, two full bathrooms, a lovely terrace and, to my mind, a perfect kitchen -- it is small, so no more than two or three steps to whatever one needed to cook full meals, which we did. The grocery store directly across the street was a great convenience, and the bus system is the epitome of Swiss organization. An excellent Swiss restaurant is no more than five minutes (flat) walk from our front door so we ate there twice. Four larger supermarkets are a 15 minute down-hill walk away through a lovely residential neighborhood, and the bus brought us up the hill to "home" on the day we didn't want to make the climb. Lucerne is a small city and buses go everywhere! The bus that stopped in front of our building came every 7/8 minutes on weekdays, every 9/10 minutes on weekends. There is absolutely no reason to go to the expense of a car rental in Switzerland. If a bus won't take you there, a train will. Christoph had made that clear in advance, but still we were surprised by how easy it was to find our way via public transportation. And Lucerne is a beautiful city. We'd never spent any time in Switzerland before and already we yearn to go back. We liked Lucerne so much we think we might never go anywhere else in that country. We recommend this exchange to anyone who might enjoy a beautiful, well run city seen from a spacious, welcoming, lovely and quiet home. You won't find more generous exchange partners. We believe we have friends for life in Christoph and Judith. ”
