Notre maison
Our house is a detached family house built in 1996, with 4 bedrooms (the master bedroom and one additional bedroom have air conditioning), Electricity and hot water through solar panels on roof. Two bathrooms (one with bath and one with shower), master bedroom and living room with digital cable TV and radio with BBC 1, BBC 2, BBC 3, BBC5, BBC world, ITV1, ITV2, ITV3, Channel 4, CNN, Film 4, etc, video on demand), phone, modern kitchen (dishwasher, fridge, freezer - sorry, no microwave), laundry room (washer yes / tumbler no), garage, private parking, terrace, balcony, garden. 2 e-bikes ready for use (you'll love the easy rides). Adjacent to vineyards, woods, mountain view. We offer one of our two VWs (air-conditioned, in excellent condition) as part of the exchange.

Our family consists of Louise & Daniel, the semi retired parents; our children Ariane (born 1984, who lives in Basel) and Andreas (born 1986, who lives in New York), who do not travel with us anymore.
Daniel (born 1953 in Basel), is the owner of a business in Locarno specialized in quality management, business consulting and project management.
Louise (born 1955 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) teaches English privately. We have a golden retriever female, five years old. She is our devoted companion and will go to a kennel during the house swap or (preferably) be our companion during the house exchange, if our exchangers agree to this.
We are experienced exchangers and have swapped houses in San Diego California (2001), Auckland New Zealand (2002), Capetown South Africa (2004), Reykjavik Iceland (2005), Melbourne Australia (2006), Hingham south of Boston Mass. (2010), Cheltenham UK (2013) and Israel (2017). And now we have time for many more exchanges!

Where is it?
Votre Quartier
Gordola is part of the Lake Maggiore Region in Ticino, Southern Switzerland. We are 5 minutes to bus & train stations and only 10 minutes to public beaches. The closest towns are Locarno and Ascona. Ticino is a very well-known tourist area, which attracts visitors from all over the world. The Swiss Railway has various rail services between Bellinzona and Locamo with stops in Gordola and Tenero (all trains stop there). There is a free boat service from Tenero to Locamo. The Swiss postal bus system (yellow buses) offers a regular bus service to and from Valley Verzasca from Tenero's post office. By train: Milan 2 hours, Zurich 3 hours; Geneva 5 hours; Mediterranean Sea 4 hours; Venice & Florence 6 hours. Trains in Switzerland are very reliable and comfortable. The Swiss alpine passes and peaks are just one hour away from home, not to be missed!
