Our home is a friendly house on the second floor. We share the house with a very nice and quiet neighbour, who lives in the basement.
The house is 80 square meters. It has two bedrooms, one with a double bed, second one with a full size bunk bed and childbed for 2-6 year olds. The children´s room comes with toys of all kinds both for boys and girls.
The bathroom has a shower.
The kitchen has a large fridge with a three shelves freezer. It has a large 6 stove gas cooker with an oven, as well as a microwave that is usable as an oven as well. Great for those who love cooking and baking. It is fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher.
The kitchen and the living room are joint and spacious. The living room has a large sofa, sofa table, a 50” TV, DVD player and a playstation. We are collectors of Vinyl records and have a good collection as well as a new record player that we are willing to share.
Out in the hallway you´ll find a closet with a floor to ceiling mirror. The laundry room is located in the basement with one laundry machine and clotheslines.
The car can come with the house exchange. It is a five seat 2004 Ford Focus Wagon. It can come with three children seats. One for 6-9 years old, one for 3-5 years old, one for 0-4 years old.
Outside we have a big garden with a trampoline for the kids.
Facilities in the house:
Washing machine, dishwasher, KitchenAid blender, toaster, 6 stove gas cooker and oven, microwave oven, television, DVD player, libratone airplay speaker, guitar, Ukulele, wireless internet, toys and children facilities, playthings in the garden.
The location is perfect, it is a children friendly area, close to a small playground and only 5 minutes walk from the largest geothermal swimming pool in Iceland (http://www.swimminginiceland.com/reykjavik-and-capital-area/17-laugardalslaug).
In a 7 minutes walking distance you´ll find Laugardalur valley or Hot Spring valley where you can take a nice walk in a beautiful grass garden, go the family park and the zoo (http://www.visitreykjavik.is/laugardalur-valley).
The heart of Reykjavík, the city center is only in a 15 -20 minutes walking distance where you´ll find fashion shops, Icelandic designers shops, restaurants of all kind, museums (http://www.visitreykjavik.is) as well as the Parliament, The City Hall, Hallgrímskirkja (our biggest church) where you can go up to the tower for a great overview of Reykjavík, the harbor and the most beautiful old houses in Reykjavík. Down at the harbor you can go on a whale watching trip.
The house is down by the sea, only 2 minutes walking, crossing a street. From there you´ll have an exceptional view over to the mountain Esjan, to the city center, to our concert hall Harpan and to the beautiful Atlantic Ocean. We highly recommend a morning jog or a nice evening walk by the sea as the sun strokes the sea, but the sun hardly sets in the summertime in Iceland. It stays bright 24 hours in the day.
Kringlan, the largest shopping mall in Iceland is also in a 15-20 minute walking distance. There are also nice restaurants and smaller shops (one 24 hours), bakery, ice-cream shop and café´s close to the house in 5-10 minutes walking distance.
It is very easy to book trips to the countryside and explore the fantastic nature Iceland has to offer. The countryside is also easily accessible by car and very possible to go on a day trip. The Golden Circle is the most popular one, where you will visit the Geyser, the largest waterfall Gullfoss and the National park. Have a look at http://www.visiticeland.com/things-to-do.
The Blue Lagoon is a 45 minutes drive where you can relax in this extraordinary one of the worlds wonders (http://www.bluelagoon.com/about-us/).
