We live on a quiet street in the beautiful village of Dundarave in West Vancouver are well situated to everything you will want to see and experience while visiting Vancouver and BC.
From our home, you will be able to walk to the village, grab a coffee and croissant, select your dinner from our excellent butcher, pick up other essentials at the grocery store - and enjoy shopping at the various boutiques, galleries, florists and more. We love to grab a coffee and walk to the beach where our kids run wild and we like to sit and enjoy the view and look for sea glass if we are feeling like doing something! There are several restaurants within walking distance from Italian to Japanese to French for those nights you don’t feel like cooking. We like to hike the many trails in West Vancouver; Lighthouse Park, Whyte Lake and Cypress Mountain are our three of our favourite places to go. And it is easy to jump in the car or take the bus downtown to enjoy the many sights, shops, restaurants, galleries, beaches, and parks that make Vancouver so beautiful.
West Vancouver itself is known for sandy beaches, great hiking trails, seaside walks, diving, kayaking, marinas where you can rent a boat to fish or tour, cute villages with shopping and galleries and there are some fantastic restaurants from delightful bakeshops to fine dining.
There are many different summer festivals that happen in and around Vancouver in the summer, such as the world renowed Jazz Festival, Music Fest, the Fringe Festival, the Folk Festival, Harmony Arts, to name just a few. And there are many other cultural events, art galleries, theatres, the opera, and the symphony to enjoy year round.
We are a 20 minute bus ride (bus stop is a 2 minute walk) or drive from downtown Vancouver and Stanley Park, a 2 1/2 blocks from Dundarave Village (restaurants, shops, grocery) and Dundarave Beach, 1 block from the Community Centre & Aquatic Centre, 3 blocks to the Library, 4 blocks to Ambleside Village (the heart of West Vancouver), and 9 blocks to Ambleside Beach. We have parks and playgrounds 1 and 2 blocks away as well. We are close to many other top tourist destination spots: Cypress Mountain (2010 Olympic venue) is a 20 minute drive, Grouse Mountain is also 20 minutes drive, Capilano Suspension Bridge 15 minutes, Granville Island, 30 min drive; Deep Cove 30 min, Whistler is 1 1/2 hours, Seattle is 3 hours, BC Ferry Terminal to Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast is a 10 minute drive).

Our second home: Our 12 acre oceanside farm is located in the heart of one of Canada’s up and coming wine and culinary destinations - the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island.
Our Farm is a beautiful and relaxing retreat - while being only a short drive away from all the farm to table restaurants, wineries, farmers markets, artisans and local shops that make the Cowichan Valley one of Canada’s up and coming culinary and wine destinations. In fact, you can walk to one of the best wineries and restaurants in the region - Cherry Point Estates.
Our farm house was originally built as a fishing lodge over 100 years ago. There are 4 bedrooms, including one with bunk beds which sleep 3. We have two bathrooms, each with a shower and bathtub. The living room and family room each have a huge window to take in the ocean views. We have a lovely side deck which looks out towards the ocean and field. We have a large kitchen with electric stove and oven, microwave, dishwasher and coffee maker. You will find a BBQ on the back porch and a fire pit to enjoy hot dog and marshmallow roasts, again with a view. There is wif
The house overlooks an ecologically important beach where you can easily find sand dollars, clam shells, and the occasional mussel and oyster shell. If you are lucky at low tide, you will find moon snails which can get as big as your hand and preys on the local clams and star fish. You can even go crabbing - use our trap or even your bare hands and dinner will be ready soon. And don’t forget to look up to watch the eagles and osprey hunt for their dinner in the sea.
We have a 30 year old orchard with plums, apples, pears, currants, quince, raspberries and one fig. We have a large vegetable garden as well - please help yourself! There are also many wild plum trees and a few nut trees.
We also have chickens - and a groundskeeper, so you needn’t feel obligated to take care of them unless you wish to get more actively into farming life. But please do help yourself to the eggs.
With 12 acres, there is a lot of space to explore and for kids to run around; we also have a zip line and a tree swing along with many outdoor games such as badminton, bocce ball and croquet - good for kids and adults.
In addition to the culinary and wine adventures near by, there are a lot of recreational opportunities, from kayaking, boating, swimming (either in the ocean, lakes or river), fishing, hiking, diving, tennis, mountain biking, whale watching, caving, horse back riding, and our personal favourite, river tubing down the Cowichan River. We 20 minutes away from the nearest town, Duncan, and are also 45 minutes from Victoria, our province’s capital which has many activities, restaurants and culture to enjoy.
