Character home situated on the ocean overlooking the surrounding Islands. Our home is situated overlooking the incoming ferries (ferries from Gulf Islands and Vancouver), ten minutes drive to Victoria International Airport.
Kayak from the front of the house in the summer and use this as your base in the winter.
The ferry is a stones throw (walking distance) from the house for easy access to Vancouver and the mainland. Victoria city centre is 25 minutes away and the world famous Butchart Gardens a 15 minute drive along the Saanich peninsular.
Skiing in the winter is available on Vancouver Island - three hour drive or catch the early morning bus!
The house is well heated by gas, electric and a huge character wood fireplace in the tudor style main lounge.
The main bedroom is situated on the top floor with its own en suite bathroom/shower and small enclosed sunporch looking out towars Saltspring Island and the ferries.
The main floor includes an open kitchen, breakfast nook with large flat screen TV. The kitchen adjoins the dining room with large 8 seater dining room table, open plan link to the lounge (with large fireplace) and bar open onto a West facing deck with propane BBQ . Opening on to the lounge is an office with home computer. There is a guest toilet on this level. Down stairs is an en suite large guest bedroom . There is also a further bathroom derving another bedroom and an extra small lounge /kitchen unused suite with a pullout sofa for extra accommodation. Most rooms overlook the ocean and face out towards Salt Spring Island and looking toward Vancouver and the mainland. The house is situated on just over half an acre which is fairly private with large trees (forest) on one side. Most houses in the area are of similar size.
We go on regular walks from the house into the surrounding forest . Walking through out the year is a pleasure but obviously colder in winter. The Saanich Peninsular does not receive as much rain or snow as Vancouver and is without snow for most of the winter. The area is easily accessible and a minutes drive to the main road that takes vehicles coming off the ferry to Victoria. Neptune Road itself is the access to the property off lands end road which links to the highway.There is a regular bus schedule into Victoria which services the ferry traffic. The views of the surrounding Islands and passing boats is very soothing. There are larger ferry connections to Vancouver or the smaller ferries travelling to the smaller gulf islands daily, if that is your plan
We are a family of four. We both work - as a teacher and as a consultant in agricultural projects. Enjoy gardening, walking, kayaking, cycling and occassional skiing. Our adult (children) both attend the University of Victoria. Not mentioned above is our dog Jasper, who ensures we have a daily bit of exercise!
We have lived in Canada for the last 10 years coming from Southern Africa (ex farming families) from Natal and Zimbabwe.
