We are retired seniors and our home has 2000sq ft of living area on one floor. Living room is 30x15 with large open fireplace, and vaulted ceiling, with floor to ceilng windows overlooking the back garden. Nice back yard with patio and garden with pond,a propane gas and charcoal BBQs. There is an onsuite bathroom in the main bedroom. There were 3 bedrooms one of which I converted into an office where I have my computer and Fax. The bathrooms are tiled as is the kichen which is equipped with a gas range and all the ammenties usual to a working kitchen. The rest of the house has hardwood floors. The house is detached with a lot 80' wide and 150'deep. There is a carport and a hobby shed in the back garden. The heat is by forced air gas furnace with central air. We are about as far south as you can get in Canada and the summers are hot and the winters reasonable mild compared to the rest of Canda. e
Chatham is a small City 35,000 and you can walk easily to the downtown area There is a city bus stop at our front curb and you can be anywhere in the city in 10 mins. We have two Supermarkets within 7 mins walk. There is the Links of Kent golf course just down the street 18 holes where you can pay green fees, and there is excellent fishing at Mitchell's Bay or Erieau both of which are a 20 minute drive,and you can charter a boat at Erieau. Detroit is less than an hour awat and you can take a car ferry across the St Clair River to Michigan. We have easy access to Hwy 401 and its a 2 1/2hr drive to Toronto approx 180 miles. Close by is the site of a famous battle of the war of 1812 where the famous indian chief was killed, and also Uncle Tom's cabin where the Rev John Henson lived and on who Harriet Beecher Stowe based her character. Also close by is Point Pelee noted mecca for bird watchers. We are situated in the Great Lakes area and there are many beautiful areas to exlore.
I am a retired Insurance adjuster(surveyor) and my wife a retired social worker with the City of Chatham. We have both travelled together in Europe, Ireland, Cuba, Mexico, Hawaii, and the UK. We both occasioally enjoy a game of golf and my wife volanteers at the local YMCA teaching aerobics and aqua fitness,I keep busy puttering around the back garden, but it is my wife who is the gardener. We are both non smokers but do enjoy a drink. I am also the cook at home and I would have to say it is my principle hobby
