Put yourself in the heart of one of B.C.'s most reknown summer resort areas; and yet, at the same time, discover the peace and tranquility of your own private 2 acre estate. This really is summer living at its finest! Our home overlooks the stunning expanse of Big Shuswap Lk. and is the boat, water, and sun-seeker enthusiasts dream destination! Here you can parasail, water-ski, rent a boat or sign on for a boat tour, snorkel and scuba dive, or just chill out at one of the many beautiful sandy beaches. We live in the countryside; but are just 10 kms. from the Trans Canada Hwy., 1 hr. from Kamloops(85,000 pop.) 2 hrs. from the world famous wine region of the Okanagan, and an easy 5 hr. drive from Vancouver, B.C. You will be a ten minute drive from a resort town where you will find parks, bistros, fine dining, shops, family fun centres and food markets. We are also within easy walking distance (2 kms.)of the Adams River-home to the world famous sockeye salmon spawning grounds which are situated within the boundaries of Roderick Haig-Brown Provincial Park. This park is also reknown for its good hiking and mountain biking trails.Twenty kilometres further west is the little town of Chase which is our business area and has all the amenities necessary for your stay (banking, pubs, liquor store, pharmacy, doctors and dentists, grocery stores, bakeries, library, golfing, health food store, etc). The neighborhood itself is very quiet; people here respect one-anothers privacy as well as the natural beauty of the surrounding area. It is a "pet-friendly" neighborhood so long as the "pet" is well-behaved and does not disrupt the neighborhood by its barking or other loud disturbances, or aggressive behavior. While it is accepted that summer is a time for fun and outdoor "revelrie"; partying accompanied with excessive noise into the wee hours of the morning is not tolerated well or appreciated by the neighbors. It is expected that you would respect and honor this collective concern.
I am retired (Special Ed.) and my husband is an Exploration Geologist. We have three grown children and two adorable cats. We both share a passionate love and respect for nature (flora and fauna) and were both drawn to our "little piece of heaven" because of this mutual affection. We are huge outdoor enthusiasts and spend the majority of our time (both leisure and working) in the great outdoors: x-country and downhill skiers, hiking, swimming, kayaking, fishing, snorkeling, prospecting, and photography. We also share a love of world travel (with recent trips to Japan, Europe, Korea, Mexico, Hawaii, the south-western U.S. and Indonesia)and an interest in experiencing other diverse cultures. We are particulary fond of the mountains and spend a great deal of time hiking in the Canadian Rockies, skiing in the Interior, the Okanagan, and the Kootenays, and because my husbands work takes him to Alaska every summer; we are fortunate to both work and play extensively in the remote Alaskan wilderness. We are a quiet couple who appreciate the privacy and natural beauty of our "Shuswap Retreat" and we both take a great deal of pride in a house that we have extensively remodeled, furnished, and decorated with our own two hands;many of the materials we have used have been harvested from our own property. My husband is an excellent carpenter and a very accomplished "Mr. Fix-It" who in the past, has built two executive homes entirely on his own, and now spends much of his spare time doing home renovations for ourselves as well as friends and family members. In short - we have very full and fulfilling lives, and while we love and seek the thrill and exhilaration of the outdoors and the "Big World Out There" ;we also have the greatest of respect and appreciation for the comfort, security, and peace of our lovely home in God's Country....The Shuswap. We can converse in Spanish and French.
