Notre maison

The House Completed in January 2009 this is a lovely two bed house refurbished to a high standard using locally sourced natural materials, particularly wood and stone, that keep it cool throughout the year. The house has high ceilings and a light airy feel, it is 73m2 in size and includes two bedrooms (sleeping 4-5), two wet room style bathrooms, open plan living space including sofa and chairs and a large table seating up to 10. The kitchen breakfast room has been fully equipped for the keen chef. A good collection of original art from around the world adorn the walls. External space includes a covered veranda, extensive gardens with private terrace, landscaped with mature banana, bamboo, palms and many fruit trees. A family of friendly monkeys visit us each morning to share our bounty of bananas (see images)! The use of a Mercedes A Class is an optional extra.

Background We are an international couple living on the wonderful island of Florianopolis in South Brazil. Mark is a property developer from London and Otavia a recently graduated architect from Florianopolis. We have just finished renovating our home in Florianopolis, located 5 minutes walk from the 6km white sand Atlantic beach of Campeche. Mark needs to be in London between 12 May and 12 September each year. So we are looking for one or multiple house exchanges, preferably in central or SW London zone 1 and 2.

Florianopolis, Santa Catarina Florianopolis is one of Brazil's premier holiday destinations with 42 stunning white sand beaches. It is a Mecca for surfing, windsurfing, kite surfing, diving and sailing. Lush and beautiful mountains and hills run down the centre of this sub tropical island and contain numerous trails and waterfalls, great for hiking and mountain biking. A 10 minute walk (or 2 minute drive) from the cottage you have local restaurants, cafes, supermarkets, butcher, fishmonger and greengrocer. 10 minutes drive away is Lagoa, a buzzing social centre with numerous restaurants, cafes, bars and shops. The city centre of Florianopolis with all the usual amenities is 15 minutes drive away. On the mainland 1 hour drive away are stunning mountain ranges, waterfalls, vineyards, agro tourism, hiking, and horse riding. Travel The quickest way to get here is via San Paulo or Rio de Janeiro with a one hour connecting flight to the island. The airport is just 15 minutes from the house via taxi.
