“We just completed a 2 week exchange. We really enjoyed corresponding with Annelies & Bert, and their house is lovely - well equipped and nicely decorated. Zutendaal is centrally located, and made for a good home base to explore Belgium, Holland, and Western Germany. We did lots of day trips to various places. Our favorites were Brugge and Antwerp. Enjoy!”

“We have had a great time in Zutendaal just very close to Maastricht..and Germany and all the great cities in Belgium. The house is so great especially with children and we did have beautiful weather so we spent a lot of time relaxing on the terrace while the children were playing in the garden..We've met Annelies and Bert already in the Netherlands at the airport and the 'click' was there..we are still in contact and really you have to visit this great place just close to Maastricht...”
“We had a wonderful time in Annelies' en Bert's lovely home in Zutendaal, Belgium, in July 2014. Their villa is very spacious and luxurious. It is also ideally located, being so close to some of the major cities and sights in Belgium, Holland as well as Germany. Annelies and Bert had provided us with a long list of restaurants and fun places to visit, and we could use their new, sturdy bikes. We cycled and went for long walks in the beautiful Belgian and Dutch countryside, visited the vibrant city of Maastricht in Holland a number of times, as well as Hasselt and the lovely old village of Oud Rekem. Four weeks was certainly not enough to see and do everything! All in all, we have fond memories of our holiday in Zutendaal. Thank you Annelies en Bert!”
Where is it?
If you wish to visit Europe, our home is an ideal and central location. You could visit all the sights of Belgium and Holland from our home without having to spend the night away. In fact we are Dutch ourselves, we live in Belgium but we work in Holland. We are 1 hour from Antwerp & Brussels and only 20 minutes from Maastricht, which has plenty of 2 or 3 star Michelin restaurants and great shops.. Paris & Amsterdam are 3 hours away by train or car. Another beautiful old town is Hasselt (only 15 km's: great for shopping & dining). The ancient German towns of Düsseldorf, Aachen and Cologne are less than 1 hour from our home. A high-end shopping center (http://www.maasmechelenvillage.com/en/home/home) and an outlet center are within 15-20 minutes from our home.
For a small fee you can become a member of the Zutendaal sailing club and your kids could swim, SUP, surf or rent a small sailing boat and take it out on the lake, which is within walking or biking distance from our home. It is a small lake with a nice artificial white sandbeach.
Also good to know is that we are in proximity of several local airports (cheap parking), from which lowcost airlines fly to London, South of France/Italy or Spain. This year we went for weekends to Rome and Nice for only 29 euro (one way)! Another weekend favorite is to go winetasting (and -buying) in the Alsace. Zutendaal is a very sought after residential area, known for it's many horses, woods and chapels. Our villa is situated at the edge of the woods and is within walking distance from supermarket, pharmacy, butcher, patisserie, baker, bank, bus etc. For those of you who do not like shopping or dining: the area is great for outdoor activities: golfing, hiking, walking, horsebackriding and biking (our bikes are available). We often go for a day to the Ardennes or the German Black Forest for it's beautiful and rugged scenery.
