Our house dates from the beginning of the 20th century. It has a lot of authentic details, very high ceilings, large rooms and good energy. We have 3 children (14/14/15), so you'll find a lot of toys and games in the house. We have a small sunny garden. On the roof, we have a nice very private roof terrace. We love modern art, especially paintings, so you'll find quite a lot of works on the walls.
You can use our bikes to discover the city and the surroundings.

“La maison de Valérie et de sa famille est une immense demeure ancienne très propre, calme, qui peut accueillir de grandes familles. La décoration est contemporaine et en harmonie avec la ville d' Anvers qui est orientée vers les arts. Sa situation nous a permis de visiter à pied bien que des vélos étaient laissés gracieusement à notre disposition. Anvers est une grande ville qui gagne à être connue. Elle est remplie de beaux monuments, son centre historique permet toutes sortes de visites (musées, parcs, shopping, églises...) dans une ambiance sereine quelque soit le quartier. Il y fait bon vivre! La ville voisine Lier, plus petite, est un ravissement et d' autres merveilles sont à proximité (Bruges, Gent...). Nous remercions vivement les propriétaires des documents et conseils qui nous ont bien servis. Merci aussi de nous avoir rendu notre maison très propre. C' était un réel plaisir de communiquer avec eux et de s' occuper de leurs charmants animaux. Nous leur souhaitons de vivre prochainement d' autres échanges aussi agréables et réussis! Amicalement. “Nous avons passé une très belle semaine à Anvers en avril 2019. Très bon contact avec Valérie, Georges et leurs enfants. La maison se situe dans un quartier agréable et à proximité du centre ville. Bon emplacement pour visiter Anvers en vélo. La maison est très grande et décorée avec beaucoup de goût. Valérie et Georges ont pris soin de notre maison, nous vous recommandons un échange avec eux. Un grand merci à la famille pour son hospitalité généreuse !”
“Der Austauch mit Georg und seiner Familie war der bisher beste, auch weil wir uns am Ende des Urlaubs hier bei uns zu Hause noch kennen gelernt haben. Die Schlüsselübergabe war, wie bisher immer, gut organisiert, wir wussten im Vorfeld schon, wo wir mitten in der Stadt gut parken können. Das Haus liegt sehr zentral, aber ruhig mitten in Antwerpen. Es war alles liebevoll für uns vorbereitet worden. Auf dem Küchentisch stand ein Osterkorb für uns. Daneben noch verschiedene andere Köstlichkeiten, sowie Kochbücher, Infomaterial über Sehenswürdigkeiten, Karten und eine Beschreibung wo wir einkaufen können, Essen gehen,... .In der Küche klebten kleine Zettelchen, wie z. B. an der Dunstabzugshaube, dass die Streichhölzer dort oben liegen. Das Haus ist liebevoll eingerichtet, die Küche bot alles was wir brauchten und wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Vielen Dank für die schöne Zeit und das leckere Essen mit dem ihr uns dann zu Hause empfangen habt. Es war eine spezielle und lustige Erfahrung im eigenen Haus erstmal so etwas wie eine Gast zu sein.”
“We spent one phantastic week in the wonderful house of Valerie and Georg. The town of Antwerpen is worth visiting and we enjoyed our trips by bike very much. Fortunately we met the especially nice family in our house before we went to Belgium. They even cared for our dog! We had a really good feeling from the beginning and so we had a relaxed and great time. They left our house in a perfect condition.”
“We stayed in Georgs and Valeries beautiful house for one week in April 2017 and really enjoyed our stay. The house is very large, but extremely comfortable and elegant. We (a family of 4) didn\'t even use all the rooms ;-). The cats were easy to care for and one of them even snuggled up with the kids on the sofa after getting used to us. The location of the house in Antwerp-Zuid is a great starting point for discovering the city by bike, which the family generously provided us with. After our return our house was in perfect condition and exactly as we left it. Another perfect exchange ... that\'s why we love this kind of vacation so much :-).”
“Had two great weeks in Valerie and Georgs lovely house on a quiet street but in the middle of an area with restaurants, cafés, museums. 15 minutes’ walk and you are down town where all the tourist and shopping attractions are. We didn’t know much about Antwerp but was very surprised by the international atmosphere. Antwerp are definitely worth a visit, and not far away you can visit other interesting towns like Brussel, Brugge, Gent, Namur etc. or the south of the Netherlands as we did. We met the family at their house and had a nice dinner together, and afterwards the children invited us to a superb ice cream shop in the neighborhood that served Antwerp’s absolutely best ice cream. We warmly recommend a house swap with Valerie, Georg and their children. The family of 5 from Denmark.”
We are a Belgian-German family with three kids, a dog and 2 cats. Georg is a psychologist and Valerie works for an Academy of Arts in Antwerp. We love our buzzy city life and all it has to offer, but we miss the countryside and long for a simple life of making marmalade and growing carrots.
Our children are Ada (2005), Ansgard (2006) en Haakon (2006). The girls play drums and sing, but the real passion of all 3 kids is grass hockey. Just like there parents, the kids love seeing the world. The cats are less adventurous. There world consists of the sofa and the neighbouring gardens. They are friendly creatures, and food will make them you there best friend.
In April, we are open for any swaps with France, Germany, Luxemburg, the UK and the Netherlands, as long as it's not further away then 700 km.
We are also looking for a swap in the first two week of August. Anything up to 1200 kilometers from Antwerp.
The house is situated in Antwerpen Zuid (Antwerp South), a district that originates from the end of the 19th century. It is said to have been inspired by Haussman, giving rise to the nickname “Le Petit Paris”. Antwerpen South offers a lot of monumental views, large streets, an enormous range of bars, restaurants and art gallerys. Our house lies in a quiet street, next to the Museum of Fine Arts. 500 meters further you'll find the 'Fotomuseum' (Museum of Photography) and the Museum of Modern Arts (Muhka). It takes a 3 minutes walk to 2 nice playgrounds en 4 minutes to the river. The old city is 15 minutes by foot, or you take the tram, that stops very close to our house.
