Set on a peninsula with just 7 homes on it, our house has spectacular water views from almost every window in the house. You can spend your days in our private pool, or walk just a few minutes to a gorgeous white sand beach.
The house is new and decorated by an interior designer, with an island feel to it. The house is two stories. On the first floor are three bedrooms: master bedroom with a king bed, a guest room with a king bed, and another guest room with a twin bunk bed (and pull out trundle, so that room can sleep three). Each of the bedroooms has a full bath ensuite, and the master bath has a very large glass-walled walk in shower with 14' ceilings. The master bedroom has French doors that open out onto the back patio where the pool is. The pool is about 25'x 75'. Upstairs, there is another guest bedroom, also with a king size bed, small private balcony, and full bath ensuite. The kitchen, dining area, and living room are open plan. The kitchen has granite countertops, a large island, and a counter area with bar seating. The second floor has large covered balconies in both the front and back of the house. The back balcony (facing the ocean) has a dining table, expansive views of the ocean, an outdoor gas grill, and a spiral staircase with direct access down to the pool patio. We have satellite TV and WiFi.
The house is located at the 15th green/16th tee of a Greg Norman-designed golf course (www.thereefexumas.com). The only thing between the house and the ocean is the golf course, so the ocean is about 30 yards or so from the house. The point of land that the house is located on is rocky, but it's not hard to climb over the rocks into the ocean for some very good snorkeling. For swimming, there are two beaches less than a 10 minute walk -- one is small but extremely private, and the other is a mile-long beach that runs the whole length of Emerald Bay.
The main town on the island is called George Town, about a 25 minute drive, and there is a grocery store there as well as several restaurants and shops. There's also a marina in town where you can rent boats or take the water taxi to some of the islands in the harbor. There are several outfitters that run good kayaking, snorkeling, scuba diving, or fishing trips from the marina. Great Exuma is easy to get to, as there is an international airport in George Town (GGT). American flies from Miami, United from Fort Lauderdale, Delta from Atlanta, Air Canada from Toronto (Sundays only), and Sky Bahamas and BahamasAir from Nassau. Our house is a 15 minute drive from the airport. Use of our car is negotiable.
