We have a 1 bedroom 1.5 bath apartment (115 square meters; sleeps 4) with a garden located in one of the prefered living districts of Vienna: 13th district called Hietzing. Our house was build in 1934 and has high ceilings. Our Apartment was newly renovated when we moved in in 2005 and comes with hardwood floors in all rooms. The bathroom has tiles, windows, a shower, a bathtub and the washing machine. Toilette is extra. We mixed the old flair of the house with modern design (Ligne Rose, Bretz, Mocca), 60ies, 70ies vintage and furniture my father made himself (e.g. the shelves in the living room). Some say it has a truly Bohemian flair to it especially since the living room also holdes an high-end LifeFitness ellipse trainer. Kitchen and dining area is also very spacious so we included an office space high speed wireless, printer, copier, scanner. The bedroom has a balcony towards the backyard. It's small but big enough for breakfast-for-two. The living room has a balcony towards the front and can hold a dining party for 4. Since the Lignet Rose sofa-sleeper is the second sofa in our living room it is comfortable to use as a bed for another 2 people.
Our maid will introduce you to the apt and also show you around in the neighborhood. If you need anything you can ask her. We would also prefer a car exchange (BMW station wagon).
My husband Bernhard and I, Madhu, are 43 and have our own consulting company. We both worked for Accenture in Europe and started our own company in 2001 - focusing on leadership development and coaching. We're both psychotherapists. I'm taking also screenwriting and creative writing classes with UCLA Extension since 2006.
We have been in L.A. several times by now and just loved the atmosphere of it. The next time we'd like to stay longer - for about 6 weeks to get more of the 'living in L.A.' feeling.
We also like to bring our cute well behaved little dog.
We're easy going, no-frills people, non-smokers and my only addiction (besides writing) is my cup of coffee in the morning ;)
Hietzingâs location is perfect: close to the city center (17 metrominutes to St. Stephanâs Cathedral) and in the midst of green.
And it still has the flair of the little village Emperor Franz-Josef chose for his summer residence: the village center with its small shops, restaurants, Heurigen (wine-bars) and one of the famouse traditional cafe houses: Cafe Dommayer, next to it the Castle Schönbrunn and the Zoo. Our Apartment is in walking distance to all this.
The next wooden are is only 3 min walking or jogging away. Meadows where you have a gorgeous view over Vienna are 10min walking/jogging away.
Our neighborhood is very safe - also at night and interesting just to walk around: the houses here are stunning; Alfred Loos, one of Vienna's famous architects has build houses in Hietzing and one sits right next to ours.
Although for Vienna itself you wonât need a car it is convenient to have one to explore the surrounding: the Wachau (one of the Vine areas), Neusiedler Lake, Semmering (for hiking) just to name a few.
And since Vienna is the heart of Europe :) you can visit other countries also: Bratislava (Slovenia) is only 1hour train ride away from Vienna, Budapest (Hungary) 3hours, Praha (Czech Republic) 4hours. (Those cities are more convient and safer to travel to by train). We live in Vienna since 2000 and we just love the city.
