“Our holiday in village of Bruck near Zell am See was a total success due to the flexibility and hospitality of Karin and Gerhard . Not only did we make new friends with Karin and Gerhard , but we were able to enjoy the beautiful alpine area and all that it has to offer visitors. Their home is just few minutes drive from the best ski sloops that we have ever experienced , which our 2 relatives thoroughly enjoyed, and the town of Zell am See is absolutely charming. The beauty of Alpes when climb on 3200 m high is breathtaking. Their home is nice and clean with all the modern conveniences. We feel lucky, not only to have stayed in their home, but fortunate to have met such gracious hosts that we now count as friends. We recommend very much home exchanging with Karin and Gerhard.”

“We have just returned (January 2012) from a fabulous week in Bruck (near Zell am See). This was a family winter skiing holiday, and we all had a great time – many thanks to Gerhard and Karin for allowing us to stay in their lovely home, they were just the best of hosts, they could not have done any more to make our stay better. We received the warmest of welcomes from them on our arrival, they provided us with so much information, and they were always on standby to assist us with anything we needed to ask. On the days we had had heavy snowfall; Gerhard even came and cleared our paths for us and our car! During the week we enjoyed a most enjoyable evening with them, whereby they brought for us good wine, and Karin brought some homemade goodies to eat – we chatted so much (they both speak excellent English), the time went by so fast, and we now view Gerhard and Karin as nice friends. The Home Exchange home exceeded our expectations. It is a detached Austrian house, which has recently been renovated to a show home standard. All the fixtures, fittings and furniture looked brand new, it was spotlessly clean and Karin had thought of every detail to make our stay as comfortable as possible. There are lovely views from the windows. Obviously being winter we did not get to use the garden, but it looks a good size and the bedrooms have balconies, which we imagine would be nice to use in the summer months. Gerhard and Karin provided us with many recommendations to enjoy a great holiday. Some of those we tried included: the best places to ski, tobogganing in Bruck (a few minutes from their home), Tauern Spa in Kaprun – fabulous! Local pizzeria in Bruck and for our last evening Gerhard recommended a classic Austrian restaurant in Zell am See called Steinerwirt - http://www.steinerwirt.com/en/wirtshaus Here we ate classic Austrian dishes in a lovely dining room with typical Austrian ambiance (Gerhard recommended the Tafelspitz, which was absolutely delicious). There are so many other places and activities we would like to have tried, but a week is not enough – we will definitely return to this area another time. We are really looking forward to meeting up with Gerhard and Karin and their family again when they come to Scotland in the summer, thanks again for a great home exchange.”
“We had a very pleasant stay at Karin and Gerhard's place. The house is nice, very well furnished with a pleasant and relaxing garden. Karin is a wonderful and kind host, providing us all the information and tips about the beautiful surroundings. Highly recommended! ”
“We spent two weeks in September 2012. Our stay was just wonderful, with lots to do and see and the beautiful Alps just out the window. The house is well-equipped with a very nice kitchen, great beds, roomy shower and everything you need. Karin and Gerhard were very helpful and so nice. They had lots of suggestions about places to visit and things to do and a very complete information book. We highly recommend this exchange for summertime exploring, bicycling and hiking and we bet it would be a super location for a ski holiday too, with many ski areas nearby.”
“We have been spending 2 separate weeks in the nice house of Karin And Gerhard in January 2016 and february 2016 during non-simultaneous exchange. Once we were only 2 people and once we were 4. The apartement is in a good position, calm and near the village of Bruck. It is equipped with everything that can be necessary. The skiing resort is all around and joinable in 5 mins of car. It offers a lot of possibilities for skiing (also on the glaciar) and a lot of fun like tobogganing and relaxing at the nearby thermes . Karin and Gerhard are sweet, nice and gentle people and we have spent some nice moments with them, even on the ski runs! Thank you very much for the warm welcome and the successfull exchange. we hope to meet you again.”
“We have just returned from our wonderful stay in Karin and Gerhart’s chalet. We spent two weeks in the village of Brouck, as our part of a non-simultaneous exchange. The chalet is beautifully furnished and fully equipped, and was perfect for we two, accompanied by our friends from Germany. Arranging the exchange with them was a delight right from the start. We very much enjoyed meeting them and their charming children while they visited our home this past summer. We really tried to complete Gerhart’s top-ten list of things to do in and around Brouck/Zell Am See, but there is so much to see and do it is almost impossible to get to the bottom of the list. We absolutely loved the awesome landscape that surrounded us, and only really slowed down for a relaxing day at the spa in Kaprun. Day traveling by rail was very easy and convenient, and our hosts were very helpful with our planning and sightseeing. They provided us with bikes, and did everything that they could have done to make our stay comfortable. We shared a wonderful meal together along with our German friends, and wish that we could have stayed longer. Our day trip up to experience the highest mountain peak in Austria, the Grossglockner, was an awesome experience. The fresh fallen snow, and the cloud free afternoon made for wonderful vistas that even excited our hosts. We wish that we could have spent more time with Karin and Gerhart, but we know that we will see them again sometime in the future. We consider ourselves fortunate to have met this wonderful family, and if you have an opportunity to arrange an exchange with them, you will not be disappointed. “We are just back from Austria where we exchanged houses with Karin's family. We had a wonderful time in their country. The house is nicely situated in the center of Austria. Karin had left us a large book with all the information about the region and it was very helpful. Plenty to do in the region and so it's easy to gravitate around the house...2 weeks was not enough, so we must go back. Karin's house is very well equipped and very comfortable. They kept contact with us the whole time to make sure we were alright. We also had her lovely parents who live close by to help us. Our house was in a perfect state once we returned. Thank you again Karin, Gerhard, Lea and Nicholas to have given us the opportunity to visit your region.”
Where is it?
We truly live in one of the most beautiful places in Europe.
Near the highest mountain of Austria called the "Großglockner" and near the lake of Zell am See (just 2km away).
The area offers an very large infrastructure - from water sports, lake shore baths to mountain adventures. Kaprun - Zell am See it is a very well known ski area (pistes 5km away)- free ski bus within 3 minutes walk from our house - you can even ski in summer on the glacier of Kaprun on 3000 meters, the gondola to the glacier is only 10 km away and then have a swim in the clear waters of the Zeller See (we are proud of the drink water quality of our lake). There is a good network of cross country pistes (one is right in front of the house).
The house has a view of the glacier "Kitzsteinhorn" so there are white mountains to see also in summer! A new spa called "Tauern Spa Kaprun" opened two years ago (5km away), many places of interest are nearby - National Park "Hohetauern", museums, cinemas, spa, lake shore baths and family fun baths, lots of sports possibilities like mountain biking, hiking, skiing, tobogganing, rafting, paragliding, riding, fishing, guided ranger tours in the National Park "Hohetauern" ....
Bruck is a nice village with an old castle called "Schloss Fischhorn", there are several supermarkets, coffee shops, bakeries (Austria is famous for its bread and sweets), restaurants, sport shops etc. within 5-10 minutes walk from the house.
