Welcome to our home in Sydney's lower North Shore. We are on a large north-facing corner block of land that is extremely private with only two immediate neighbours.
Our home has three bedrooms plus a study that contains a double sofa bed, Mac computer with broadband and wi-fi internet.
Our master suite contains a king size bed and has its own ensuite bathroom with built-in wardrobes.
The second bedroom is very large and has two single beds, built-in robes and plenty of play space for small people.
The third bedroom is also a child's room and has one single bed, along with a desk and storage.
The main bathroom contains a shower, toilet, sink & bathtub.
All the bedrooms and study contain ceiling fans, which is really the only cooling needed in our house, even on a really hot summer night.
The main living area is very large and is flooded with natural light in summer time. The room is air-conditioned but receives a lot of natural ventilation due to our aspect and reasonable height. The room contains a large lounge area which has TV, DVD, stereo, hard drive with hundreds of movies and Wii with selection of games. Not that you'd need it in summer, but the house is also fully ducted for gas heating.
The kitchen is modern and full of every gadget you'd need for a summer holiday, including coffee machine, juicer and mix-master, along with all the basics: toaster, kettle, etc. Off from the kitchen is a laundry with direct external access, containing front loading washing machine and dryer, iron and ironing board.
We have a huge 8 seater dining table alongside the kitchen.
While our house is a great comfortable family home, it is our garden that is a really special place in summer, particularly with children. The backyard is completely child-safe and provides a haven for fun all day.
We have an 8m x 4m gas-heated swimming pool that is only 4 years old so easily maintained and glorious to swim in.
Attached to the pool area is an under-cover cabana with built-in seating that provides an ideal place to read the paper while the kids are frolicking in the pool. The pool gets sun all day and late into the evening.
When the kids are finished in the pool, there is a cubby house fully-equipped with cooking implements for hours of imaginative play and a double swing set. All of this is set in the shade of two beautiful magnolia trees that have thick green leaves providing perfect shade on hot summer days.
You can watch all of this happening from the deck which has a large outdoor table and seats, with outdoor umbrella and
a new paved area with brand-new BBQ.
We also have a large secure front garden that captures all the northern sun - ideal in winter. Plenty of space out here to read a book or catch late afternoon sun.
Our home is well-maintained but nothing is too precious. You'd feel very comfortable here.
We have two cars available for swap with the house. The main car is a 7 seater Mazda CX9. We have a couple of car seats/boosters also available. The second car is my husband's Peugeot 307 runabout, which has been very much runabout but is good for quick trips to the shops! The property has a single under-cover carport.
We also have 2 adult bikes and several kids bikes and scooters available for use.
The home has a back-to-base security alarm. We have a cleaner fortnightly (that could be weekly if required) and can organise garden and pool maintenance to be taken care of during swap period to ensure your stay is trouble free.
If you're thinking of our house and don't have kids, we can pack away most evidence of them! Our house has only 4 steps from the living room up to the bedrooms & bathrooms and access to the carport is down only a few steps. Walking to shops is a very easy level stroll from our house.
Willoughby is a very family-friendly suburb just 10 minutes (2 sets of traffic lights to the Harbour Bridge) to the CBD and oh so close to the beautiful Northern beaches of Dee Why, Narrabeen, Manly, Curl Curl etc.
Just 10 minutes in the other direction will take you to Chatswood, where you will find a huge range of retail opportunities, cinemas, train station, and plenty of restaurants.
For dining options, Willoughby itself has a number of great local restaurants, along with Castlecrag and Cammeray which are both within 5 minutes. Crows Nest village again has more restaurants plus a number of very cool small bars. For enjoying Sydney on a summer night, you can't go past the Opera Bar at the Sydney Opera House, sipping a cold glass of wine, watching the ferries and listening to music - it really is a magic experience and only 10 minutes away!
