The Reserve for fine dining and an excellent cellar, The Terrace for fresh local seafood in a restaurant setting, Spicers Tamarind and Clovelly Long Apron are both hatted (chef's award) restaurants, Pomodoras for interesting food creekside, Maudys bistro, plus Italian, Thai, Indian, fish and chips, pubs and lots more.
There are 3 bars in Maleny, several more in Montville and Mapleton, as well as beachside and dozens of other choices at the coast.
Choice of about 12 cafes in Maleny, and then there are the nearby hilltop towns of Montville and Mapleton nearby, with more choices and stunning views too.
Maleny's main street is home to many interesting little shops, including boutiques, homewares, quality gift shops, 3 bookshops, and lots more. Add Montville and Mapleton and you have around 100 speciality shops.
Live music several nights a week in Upfront cafe-bar, Saturday film nights with candlelit dinner in the community hall, galleries, theatre and singing groups, arts and craft groups, cycling group, gym, yoga classes, library, book clubs, tree planting groups. The town hosts several weekend festivals during the year: Real Food Festival, Open Studios, Woodworkers Expo, Celebration of Books, Music Weekends, Arts and Crafts Show, Opera in the Rainforest, Agricultural Show. We are only 1.5 hours from the capital Brisbane, so we feel we have the best of the country and the city. Only a short drive to fabulous beaches too.
Pleasant rural walking available, and Mary Cairncross Park offers a short walk through an ancient forest. Maleny Botanic Gardens is set against the backdrop of the Glass house Mountains.
Take a half hour drive to the coast and walk for hours along sandy beaches. Even closer is the rainforest long-distance Great Walk that can be also be walked in shorter sections.
