Brilliant CBD location close to Docklands, Queen Victoria Market, Bourke St Mall, Flagstaff Gardens and public transport.
Melbourne’s City Centre is home to the famous alleyways and arcades and is renowned for its distinct blend of contemporary and Victorian architecture as well as expansive parks and gardens which surround its edges.
CULTURE AND ART
There are many notable theatres and performance venues in the City Centre. Melbourne City Centre is also the literary centre of Australia, and has more bookshops per capita than any other city in Australia, including the headquarters of the World's largest travel guidebook publisher Lonely Planet. Melbourne has been placed alongside New York and Berlin as one of the world's great street art meccas and its extensive street art-laden laneways, alleys and arcades were voted by Lonely Planet readers as Australia's top cultural attraction.
Take a tram or a train to some of Melbourne’s sporting arenas. There’s the Melbourne Cricket Ground for Aussie Rules Football and Cricket and Olympic Park for the soccer fans or stroll across the road to Etihad Stadium for a mix of sporting events.
The Melbourne City Centre is the transport hub of the city.
The city is serviced by five railway stations as part of the Melbourne Underground Rail Loop: Flinders Street (the busiest), Southern Cross Station (the hub of the regional network in Spencer Street at Melbourne Docklands and is also an interstate terminal), and three underground stations - Parliament, Melbourne Central and Flagstaff (not open on weekends) stations.
Trams run down the main streets with several large accessibility tram superstops located in Flinders Street, Collins Street, Swanston Street and Bourke Street Mall.
The city is also well connected by bus services, with majority of buses running down Lonsdale Street. Major bus stops include Melbourne Central and QV. Most bus routes service suburbs north and east of the city given the lack of train lines to these areas.
Major bicycle trails lead to the CBD and a main bicycle path down Swanston Street.
Ferries dock along the northbank of the Yarra at Federation Wharf and the turning basin at the Aquatic Centre. There is also a water taxi service to Melbourne and Olympic Parks.
Needless to say, surrounded by all these different transportation methods and situated right next to the Southern Cross station, getting around is not going to be a problem at all.
Hop on board the Skybus which provides a quick, convenient and cost effective way to get to and from the airport.
Access to the Overland rail service to Adelaide, and NSW TrainLink XPT services to Sydney.
Coach services to Melbourne Airport and Avalon Airport, as well as regional Victorian and interstate destinations.
Europcar, Budget and Avis rental car depots are just opposite the building in the Southern Cross station, so picking up and dropping off a rental car is super easy!
There is also a tram stop right outside the building.
Most importantly, all trams within the city grid are FREE. Just look out for the "FREE tram zone" signs.
If you drive, parking in Melbourne city is extremely expensive! You'll be lucky to get away with AU$40 a day for parking. There is paid parking available for around $40 per day across the road at the Spencer St Outlet Centre. Try not to drive if you can because you're in the FREE tram zone and public transport in the city is super convenient.
If you need to rent a car there is an Avis, Europcar or Budget from the Southern Cross Station depot just opposite the building, it will cost anywhere from AU$70 to AU$150 a day depending on what car you're looking for. Rent it for the days you need and drop it back at the depot when you're done. It's better than paying for parking in the city and it’s just across the road.
Uber is another excellent way to get around. For first time Uber users quote “wager” for a $10 discount!
Strictly no smoking, house parties, yelling. The fire alarm is extremely sensitive, so please ensure to open the balcony door and switch on the range hood while cooking. If it goes off, you'll be liable for the costs of the fire truck's visit which is around AUD $3,000 per truck.
Check-in is anytime from 2pm. Check-out is at 10am.
Guests are expected to treat the apartment as if it was their own and leave it in similar condition to what they found it. Absolutely no smoking, no parties and no pets.
Lost keys will incur a charge of $200 to replace. Don’t leave the apartment without a key as the door is a fire door which automatically locks itself.
If you want to leave your luggage before checking-in or after you check-out, there luggage services and paid lockers across the road on Spencer St at the Southern Cross train station. They charge anywhere from AU$10 to AU$16 per locker for 24 hours.
