Our guest cottage is cosy and comfortable rather than large and luxurious. It has all you need for a pleasurable and agreeable stay. The brick cottage has one good size bedroom with queen bed,walk-in robe,a bathroom with shower/bath,vanity basin and heating if required, separate toilet, laundry and rather large open plan kitchen/lounge/dining room. In a corner of the lounge room is a single bed. This area is warmed by a slow combustion wood fire in cooler weather. It is situated on 10 acres of green pasture and so it is QUIET and private with very friendly neighbours, not too far away. Our main house is also on the property. This means that a NON - SIMULTANEOUS exchange is an option. The cottage has a serene atmosphere with a wide spectacular VIEW overlooking a BEAUTIFUL WATERWAY. The overall setting is most charming and ideal for a restful and enjoyable holiday.
Our property is in a picturesque, rural area of the clean,
green state of Tasmania. It overlooks the D'Entrecasteaux Channel, a beautiful waterway and is surrounded by distant timbered hills. It is a quiet, private and peaceful location about 40 minutes drive south of the charming little city of Hobart, with its world class restaurants, markets, galleries, shops and historic buildings. A few minutes drive from our home is a post office, general store, petrol station and a tasteful, modern building encorporating a quality restaurant/bar/providore, called Peppermint Bay, situated by the water. A car is really necessary here. The area is renowned for its outstanding wine and local foods - berries, apples, oysters, crayfish(tastier version of lobster), potatoes, cherries, cheeses, scallops, fish etc. Within easy driving distance are many attractions and activities - fishing, boating, sailing, bush walking, forests, beaches, bays and waterways. It is an ideal location for those who would like to relax in an unpolluted and pristine environment, yet is reasonably close to all the amenities we expect of modern life. Australians, especially Tasmanians, are easy going friendly people.
Having travelled and searched throughout Australia, we chose Flowerpot, in Southern Tasmania to live. We retired(somewhat early) here a few years ago and are totally happy with our choice and lifestyle. We are a husband and wife team, Tony and Margaret, who were teachers in our dim, dark past. These days we enjoy gardening, fishing(Tony especially loves fly fishing for trout),reading, cooking, camping, bush walking, cultural pursuits, relaxing and naturally travelling - work is distant memory! We are very house proud, clean and tidy and are the same in anybodies home. Of course, we expect our visitors to be the same. We enjoy entertaining and are often booked out with visitors wanting to return to this part of the world.
