Notre maison

Our home is clean, cosy and very comfortable.
It features four bedrooms, a big kitchen, a dining room with wooden furniture, a huge living room that covers the whole second floor, another living room with a fireplace and river-view, a pool room, as well as large windows all over the place. But the main treat is the beautiful backyard, which offers a large brick patio, a barbecue, a hammock and a big swimming pool, along with a stunning view of the St-Lawrence River and of Orleans Island’s marina and church.

Our house is only a short drive away from Old Quebec City and such attractions as the Frontenac Castle, the Citadel of Quebec, the Plains of Abraham, the Petit-Champlain, and many other historic sites. For those who like shopping, St-Jean Street offers many local stores and European-style pubs. To discover Quebec City’s nightlife, Grande-Allée Street is must-see, with the city’s most popular restaurants and clubs. Those who are more interested in sports or nature will surely want to visit the Mont Ste-Anne, the highest mountain in the province, where it is possible to ski (in the winter), to mountain bike (in the summer) or just to hike.

The house itself is located in Saint-Laurent, one of the six villages on Orleans Island. Unlike the surrounding suburbs of Quebec City, you won’t find in Saint-Laurent your usual Wall Mart, Mcdonald’s or Burger King, for Orleans Island has remained a very rustic place, with lots of green hills, small cafés and art galleries located by the river. Anywhere on the island, the landscape is extremely gorgeous. The place has a very soothing country atmosphere. In the summer, you can stop on the way home to buy strawberries or raspberries directly from stands alongside farms.

On the practical side, the house is a 5-minute walk away from a grocery store, which provides local food and fine wine. Even closer are a park with a playground, two tennis courts and a skating ring (in the winter). The house is also footsteps away from Saint-Laurent’s marina, a great place for walks, picnics and sight-seeing.

In short, the main advantage of our home is that it offers a calm atmosphere, while being very close to the hype of Old Quebec City.

We are in couple in our mid-sixties; Claire is a notary and Jean is a lawyer. Before we retire, we want to bring our children (in their twenties and thirties) on a two to four-week trip to Europe, preferably Italy. We will treat your home with the highest regards, and we will trust you to do the same.
