Québec, oldest city in North America, celebrated its 400th anniversary in 2008! You really have to spend time in Quebec to enjoy all it has to offer.

European looks and feeling, great history, lots of attractions, fine restaurants, art galeries, theatres, movies, festivals, nature easily accessible (lots of outdoor activities at less than an hour drive: sailing, kayaking, cross-country and alpine skiing, rafting, canoeing, mountain bicycle, road bike, etc.)

Quebec is in a french speaking part of Canada, but most people also speak english. Easily served in english everywhere in the city. A place you will remember...

A marina at a 5 minutes drive with sea and river kayaks, sailboats, and a great walking and running trail along St-Lawrence river where picnics are wonderfull during hot summer days. There is also a public pool and fitness centers at less than 10 minutes. A big movie theatre is at 10 minutes.
You can cycle on pittoresque farm roads at a 10- 15 minutes ride.

Numerous shopping centers (Laurier, Place Ste-Foy, place de la Cité, Galeries de la Capitale) and nice shopping streets in the city (Rue St-Jean, Rue Cartier, Rue Maguire, Rue du Petit-Champlain)

Lots of art galeries and antiques in the old city of Quebec too.

You can also go further for whale watching in Tadoussac (including belugas), stroll Baie St-Paul for it's renown art galeries or have a glimpse at Montreal, Charlevoix, Saguenay-Lac St-Jean, Bas St-Laurent, Appalaches, Mauricie, etc).
