Notre maison

Set in a quiet, leafy street, our 1880s terrace house is a remodelled contemporary living space close to transport, shops and restaurants. The house was formerly a fish and chip shop. It’s a stroll from the University of Sydney and you can take an easy, level walk to the city centre in less than an hour.
The Inner West area of Sydney has an urban vibe, cosmopolitan café life and a diverse population. Buses and the light rail system are close, and serve the area well. Broadway Shopping Centre is a five-minute drive from the house, and on the way you pass Glebe Point Road, with its funky bars, restaurants (Greek, Indian, Lebanese, Mexican, Vietnamese) and cafés. Swimming pools, a library, galleries and markets are close by. On nearby Blackwattle Bay our favourite walk has classic Sydney views of the Harbour Bridge and Anzac Bridge, easy access to the famous Sydney Fish Market and on New Year’s Eve and Australia Day (26 January), it’s a great spot to see the spectacular fireworks.
Our house is spacious, stylish and comfortable, with timber floors on the ground floor. The front room is a study/bedroom with walk-in robe and ensuite bathroom. This leads into an open plan space with a formal dining area, a concealed laundry and under-stair cupboard and a gourmet kitchen with breakfast bar. The adjoining sitting room opens through bi-fold doors to a leafy back courtyard that provides a large private entertaining space. There is a full barbeque (gas connection) and an open hearth outdoor fireplace for the cooler months. In summer the courtyard is shaded by a sliver of woodland beyond the property.
The first floor level is carpeted, and has a study alcove, a bedroom, a sleek full bathroom (including bath) and then the main bedroom and ensuite bathroom with skylight. Both bedrooms are well provisioned with built in wardrobes. The main bedroom leads onto a sunny private deck which is perfect for breakfast or an evening drink.
Our house features mid-century furniture and work by artists we love, along with an expansive collection of art books and literary fiction.
