Our new (2012) architect designed, resort style home backs onto a native bush reserve, and yet is only minutes from cosmopolitan Brisbane. Our large home 5 bedroom, 2 lounge rooms, home is wonderful for families, equipped with swimming pool (and water slide), trampoline, table tennis and tons of fun for all ages.
The weather in Brisbane is superb, and we have designed our home to take full advantage of the sun all year round. We have huge decks and cool spaces in which to relax and admire the native fauna and wildlife.
We live in a friendly and welcoming neighbourhood, within walking distance to some of the best cafes, restaurants and parks in Brisbane. We are within minutes of local shops catering for all your grocery needs, from supermarket, bakery, fishmonger, greengrocer, pharmaicist and newsagent. But if shopping is your thing, a few minutes further along is the massive Westfield at Carindale, or you can pop into the CBD for a day of shopping.
We are happy to also arrange a car swap (or 2 cars if preferred) for easy transport. We are also just metres from the nearest bus stop providing regular transport into the city.
We have travelled and lived in many places all over the world, and these are some of the reasons why we have chosen to raise our family in Brisbane:
1. Perfect climate
Brisbane has hot and humid sun drenched summers, and simply the best winters (if you can call it that) in the world. The average temperature in winter is around 18 to 20 degrees celsius.
Brisbane is a very sporty outdoor oriented city, with lots of great sports facilities and world class sporting events (including the Lions tour this year!)
2. Going out in Brisbane
It’s a great place to go out and you’ll never get bored by the variety of places you can choose from. From the cool bars and restaurants in Coorparoo, and nearby Woolloongabba precinct, to the scores of places at South Bank, and of course the CBD.
Brisbane has hundreds of parks and that is what makes it a very friendly and green city. At every second corner you can find a place where you can relax and take a break. We have some great parks within walking distance (including Majestic Park and the sprawling Whites Hill reserve).
4. South Bank
South bank is only minutes drive away and is a great place to explore, go for a swim, enjoy a drink in a river front bar, have a picnic or bbq, or enjoy fine dining. It's also the home of Gallery of Modern Art and the Queensland museum. They always have really interesting exhibitions.
5. Kangaroo Point Cliffs
Here you can climb up the hills(or abseil down) in the middle of the city next to the river and enjoy the great scenery of the city. If climbing is not your thing you can go for a run or a walk around kangaroo point next to the water.
6. Great Surroundings
Brisbane is perfectly located to explore the best of Queensland beaches. Even though it doesn’t have its own beach access you can easily get to the beach with the car or by public transport.
1 Hour to the South of Brisbane is Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast with it’s well known surfing beaches.
In the hinterland of the Gold Coast you have magnificent National Parks like Springbrook National Park.
About 2 Hours South from Brisbane and in the state of New South Wales you have Byron Bay. A great spot for everybody who loves Surfing and relaxing. The surf there is perfect and the beaches are wonderful. The town is relatively small with some pubs and some hostels. Cape Byron is the most easterly point of the Australian main land. If you wake up early you can be the fist person on the Australian main land to see the new day coming in with a beautiful sunrise.
100 kms to the north of Brisbane you have the Sunshine Coast. This is our favourite weekend getaway. It has some stunning beaches and beautiful national parks.
The famous Australia Zoo (run by the Irwin family) is also situated at the Sunshine Coast and followed by other attractions like the big pineapple.
Of course there are also the amazing islands of Moreton and Stradbroke just off the coast of Brisbane (about 30 - 45 minutes by boat/barge) which need to be experienced to be believed!
